Lydia: It seems to me that there is also a generational issue at hand- what the young (and well educated) people in their teens and twenties have grown up with is so far beyond our ken that we might as well be in different universes. This is exponentially true in terms of the great divide between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ in the world economies. Bridging those gaps, be they generational or economic seems to be beyond hope.
Agreed, Claudia. I see these generational and economic factors as fitting within the realm of what I’m calling interpersonal inequity. Thanks for bringing these to the fore. I’m looking forward to fleshing out more about how these relate to technostress on an individual level, and moreover how we can each be more healthy in our relationship with technology. How we perceive this gap you’re pointing out is an important piece!
